Celebrity Monday - Beyonce

If you asked me, "Who's Beyonce'?"  I would say, "She's a singer and an actress."

I know I had seen her in a couple of movies, she has hosted or appeared in different music award shows, I occasionally hear her name either in the news or on the radio...  but truthfully I don't know anything more about her...
I don't even know her songs...
Anyways, this leads us to celebrity Monday...  a chance to learn a little bit more about "Who's Beyonce'?"

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter[2][3] (née Beyoncé Giselle Knowles; September 4, 1981), known mononymously as Beyoncé (play /biˈjɒns/ bee-YON-say), is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she enrolled in various performing arts schools and was first exposed to singing and dancing competitions as a child. Knowles rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B girl group Destiny's Child, one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. -
And, this is how everything started...

Destiny's Child were formed in Houston, Texas, in 1990, when original members Beyoncé Knowles and LaTavia Roberson were just nine years old; the two met at an audition and became friends, and Knowles' father Matthew set about developing an act based on their singing and rapping, under the name GirlTyme. Later Tina Knowles, Beyonce's mother took their name from a passage in the Book of Isaiah. Kelendria "Kelly" Rowland joined the group in 1992, and shortly thereafter they landed an appearance on Star Search, where they performed a rap song. The quartet's lineup was finalized (for the time being) when LeToya Luckett joined in 1993, and they spent the next few years working their way up from the Houston club scene, eventually opening for popular R&B artists like SWV, Dru Hill, and Immature. In 1997, Destiny's Child was offered a recording contract by Columbia Records.

I didn't even know she was a producer or a songwriter!

I Googled her name, and one of her most famous songs had come up...  Yes!  I thought I had heard it before while searching for something on the radio, but I never really put a name to the music...

She is a really beautiful woman, with her natural tan and long flowing hair...  unfortunately I don't feel a very nice job was done with the features on her "Barbie" doll, for some reason, the model appears to look a little off...

There was also a Beyonce' doll developed by Hasbro:

The job with this one...  They certainly could have done better...

Hope everyone has a great week!!!

  1. Hello from Spain: Beyonce is very versatile and very pretty. The problem with AA is all artists who want to look white skin. I think they are giving up their roots. For example her dolls are fair-skinned. If you see photos of the singer for years was very black skin and black hair and curl. I do not know much more about her. Some of her songs were very successful in my country. one of his songs come out in the second movie Sex in the city. Keep in touch

  2. You are very right about the "fair skin" observation, her older pictures shown more about her as an AA celebrity.
    Thanks for stopping by!
