Celebrity Monday - Goldie Hawn

Goldie Jeanne Hawn (born November 21, 1945) is an American actress, film director, producer, and occasional singer.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldie_Hawn)
Wow! I'm getting old...I remember having a lot of fun  watching movies that Goldie Hawn was on it, she looked fresh and young, but yes, the time has passed and I can say that she had done not one but a extensive list of movies, shows and likes. She was so funny and  did such a great job that along her career she has always done her part very well as a actress.

Her curriculum is very, very extensive, so let's get the nail in the head! The Barbie was was based on her well know role as a go go dancer on a variety show called Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. I'm sure she must be on the most beautiful ladies in the late 60's list...I'm glad Mattel was able to caught her talent and make the doll. A sample of her role on the show...

Only thing...this doll is for collectors who appreciate a nice doll and understands why she was made. You don't want have to explain to a kid why she has tattoos all over, for example, nothing against giving it for a kid, but even on Barbiecollector.com says she's for the adult collector! It's a piece of art with reasons behind every detail. She's a black label doll and it was released on 2009.

Mattel had done a really good job on this one, face and character wise, details were very well placed and showed.

What do you think, did you like it?
Have a great folks! God Bless you!

Celebrity Monday - Lindsay Lohan

Hello everyone, after a long vacation, meaning break from myself I guess, i came to say hi...Hi!!! Well, let's start all over again...hope to stay longer...

I grew up up watching  a lot movies that Lindsay Lohan was in it, she was (and is) very good for a kid actress, despite all the "trouble" she got herself into (I'm not here to judge, but her bad behavior was for while the principal talking on the celebrity world) , she has done a awesome job on a lot movies out there.

Folks, enough for  gossip!lol

Lindsay Morgan Lohan[1] (/ˈl.ən/;[2] born Lindsay Dee Lohan; July 2, 1986) is an American actress, model and recording artist. She began her career as a child fashion model when she was three, and was later featured on the soap opera Another World for a year when she was 10. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindsay_Lohan)
There is not much to say about her, other than she has been in a lot of things on TV and has been in a lot of trouble as well, then my question...So, why Mattel would make a doll of her, again...we all make mistakes in our lives, but then I go and buy a doll, ask me how I'll explain to my kid that she's really famous because...she's a great actress, OK, done! (I actually think the doll was released before she got on the media for the bad reasons...I think the doll was released a little bit before all the mess, on 2005) then, the way kids are born these days, knowing more than you about everything!OK Google it and you'll find more "bad" that "good" pictures of her. Oh! Well, I'm going too deep on these thoughts, jeez I don't even have a kid yet ha ha I'll worry when time comes and talk about the doll...

Ok, the doll was a part of the "My scene Goes Hollywood" set on 2005, back then she was "The mean girls" movie star, because she was the good soul in the movie, so it explained, i guess...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/x_fashionluva_x/4352166792/

I was not impressed by this doll, I guess it may be a OK "play doll", but not a good addition for my collection, I was never a fan of the "My scene" line and haven't ever bought any of them, so it may be the reason I didn't like that much this one, I don't like the big heads, i like the older molds, but well, Mattel has to follow the market, the competition and a variety of lovers, so after at all she's a OK doll!

Have a good week, Folks! God Bless you!

Celebrity Monday - Deidre Hall as Marlena Evans

As I "talked" about one of the days of our lives actresses last week - HERE, I have decided to mention Deidre Hall as Well. She played Marlena Evans on the show. She was the longest running actress on the serial.
Deidre Ann Hall /diːdrə hɔːl/ (born October 31, 1947) is an American actress best known for her portrayal of Dr. Marlena Evans on NBC's daytime drama Days of our Lives, which she played for 32 years. The character is considered an icon to the soap, and has experienced some of the most outrageous storylines in soap opera history.[1] She is also an ambassador for Operation Smile. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deidre_Hall

I don't think any other Barbie dolls were made based on the show, I was not able to find there's one.

Just as Erica Kane, Marlena Evans had her doll on 1999 as well. As I don't have the doll, these pictures are from eBay.

The doll is a recreation of Marlena Evans when she married John Black. Her dress is a very light blue (I wouldn't know just by looking at internet pictures) with a soft scallop trim, there's also a cascade of white tulle falling from her shoulders. She holds a nosegay of white flowers.

Seems to me, Mattel tried to "copy" the actress face, but wasn't too successful on that...

Hope you all have a great week!!

Celebrity Monday - American Idol Barbie dolls

I remembered an America Idol Barbie I have stored at my father's in law house as I found some auctions on eBay, when looking for some pieces for those Barbies I have got from the shed. I'm not a big fan of these types of shows, so I didn't get the doll for that reason. Years ago looking for a gift for my niece as I was going to Brazil I found one of these dolls at Walmart on the clearance section. Her name was Simone, I got two of the same one, one for me and one for her. Well, I'll tell  you what happened later.

American Idol is an American reality-singing competition program created by Simon Fuller and produced by 19 Entertainment, and distributed by FremantleMedia North America. It began airing on Fox on June 11, 2002, as an addition to the Idols format based on the British series Pop Idol and has since become one of the most successful shows in the history of American television. For an unprecedented eight consecutive years, from the 2003–04 television season through the 2010–11 season, either its performance or result show had been ranked number one in U.S. television ratings.[3]

The biggest surprise of all these auditions was Susan Boyle - We all know that!!! - It was a slap on our faces, because no one believed she was all that!!Glad for those, she has an amazing voice!!!

Anyways, let's talk dolls?

This was the commercial for the dolls , it's in Spanish, but they are the same dolls.

2005 was the year picked to bring the singers out to became a celebrity. Barbie and her two friends, Simone and Tori could show all her talents for a chance to be famous.

Barbie

Tori

Simone

OK great! The dolls all had a little karaoke, a stage, extra outfits and accessories. It seemed really fun toy to give as a gift, remember that I  was talking about my niece? well, she hated it!!!These dolls has is one of the worst feedback on Amazon.com . See for yourself...

Please do not get me wrong. if you are one the leave dolls in their boxes. SHE IS A BEAUTY. But i bought her to debox. it is horrible. her legs are about an inch longer than a normal doll so regular clothes DO NOT fit her. Her waist is molded in a permenant arch so she can NEVER STAND STRAIGHT. if you would like to pics of this doll next to a regular barbie please email me at tummiluvsdollies@yahoo.com - http://www.amazon.com/review/R3DXOHFH6108LW/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R3DXOHFH6108LW

YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUCK!!!!!!!! YUCK!!!
I realy DON'T LIKE THIS TOY! Her hip stays in dancing mode wich made her hard to play with.Matel realy messed up this time!Buy an african american midge because she looks a LOT like samone and she dosn't have a problem with her hips!!!I returned her cuz I DISLIKED this... this... THING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't waist your money on this... this... THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - http://www.amazon.com/Mattel-G7998-American-Barbie-Simone/product-reviews/B000324YA2

This toy is a total waste of money. The doll might be pretty , but she -as other reviews say- is a total ripoff. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY ON THIS DOLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her waist is not flexible at all and she can't even sit right. If you don't like the way she is in the box -don't buy her-because thats the way she is going to stay.  - http://www.amazon.com/Mattel-G7998-American-Barbie-Simone/product-reviews/B000324YA2/ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending

Me? I was so frustrated too as my niece was very disappointed, because when she opened the box and saw that the doll couldn't move at all, from a happy, excited face, she had a "this is an awful toy" one. I felt so bad about it, that I ended up send two other Barbie dolls when I came back from Brazil.

Don't get me wrong, she's a nice add for any collection, but for display only, like mine, not to give as a gift for a kid to play with. I just don't know why, if she's one of the "regulars"dolls, she was made like this, it's just weird...

Not all celebrities dolls are as glamorous as should be huh?

Have a great wee you all!!!

Celebrity Monday - Susan Lucci as Erica Kane

Susan Victoria Lucci was born on December 23, 1943, on New York. She's an American actress, television host, author and entrepreneur, her most famous role was for a daytime drama soap opera called "All my children", haired by ABC. for 41 years ( 1970 - 2011). she has a very extensive career
on film and television appearance. For more - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Lucci

Erica Kane, her character on "All my Children" was so popular on the soap opera history (wonder why she hold the role for so long?) that Mattel couldn't be out of "track" about it...

1998 Erica Kane Barbie Doll

This doll is a recreation  of Erica's look on the unforgettable Crystal ball episode when she makes her first public appearance back in the Pine Valley Society, just like in the show - (couldn't find any pictures from it...)

And, the following year another one.

1999 Erica Kane Wedding Barbie Doll

The dress on this doll is a recreation of the beautiful gown used by the actress on the shown.

I really liked the outfit in the bride one. Mattel did try to do a good job on the face, but for me she's a little off, I would rather have a "regular" Barbie mold head than a "Erica Kane" one. t least they have tried...

Hope you all have a great Week!

Celebrity Monday - Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stephens Barbie doll

Elizabeth Montgomery was a American actress, from Los Angeles, who played Samantha Stephens on Bewitched, an American fantasy comedy that aired for eight seasons on ABC, from1964 to 1972. She was a witch who, married to a mortal, do everything to live a regular housewife's life.

Her "real" life gave to her  four marriages and three children. She passed, at age 62, on may of 1995.

Legacy
 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Montgomery)

Here, one of the episodes, pretty funny...Well I like old shows...

To commemorates the 60's era, on 2005, a six foot tall statue was placed on Salem, Massachusetts - USA, about 2 hours from where I live. Not only the city is all about witches, but Salem was a scenario for a set of episodes of "Bewitched", after a fire on the Hollywood set.

Mattel showed her appreciation for the good TV American television on 2010 when released  the "Bewitched" Barbie Doll.
The doll wear the same outfit Samantha shows on the opening of the show. She also  brings a hat and a broom with her.

Well, hope you all have a great week!!

Celebrity Monday - Country Rose Barbie Doll

Today I won't "talk" about someone in special, but a place very know by the country music industry, The Grand Ole Opry. It's a weekly country music (also bluegrass, folk, gospel and comedy performances) concert located in Nashville, Tennessee since 1925.

According to Wikipedia it's has been called  the "home of American music" and "country's music famous". Nowadays the presentations are broadcasting as a Saturday night  shows to nearly 30 states and and also is on radio nationally since 1939. Some of the well know country music singers are regular in the stage:

A sample of it...not a huge fan of Carrie Underwood, but I like her voice!

For more: http://www.opry.com/

The doll, the first of  the Grand Ole Opry Collection was released on 1997. She's a a Collector Edition and has a certificate of authenticity.

The premiere doll from the Grand Ole Opry Collection, Country Rose Barbie doll displays the style and glamour that made the Opry famous. Her stunning red satin ensemble is highlighted by black "suede" yolk and cuffs edged in golden trim. Beautiful embroidered roses, a white chiffon scarf and dazzling rhinestone accents add an elegant touch to her western outfit. From her rooted eyelashes and clear blue eyes, to her "suede" western hat, Barbie is simply show-stopping. She even has her own guitar - http://www.barbiecollector.com/shop/doll/country-rose-barbie-doll-17782

Celebrity Monday - Cyndi Lauper

OK, if you were alive in the 80's or grew up then, you have heard this song, and I love it!!!one of those that you can dance around the house and put all the bad energy away, just by listening, makes you want to move.

Cindy Lauper is an America singer, a songwriter and an actress.

She first achieved success in the early 1980s with the release of her debut solo album She's So Unusual in 1983, which was an instant commercial success.
Lauper has released over 40 singles and, as of 2011, had sold more than 50 million worldwide.[3][4] and 1 million DVDs and 20 million singles,[5] She has won numerous awards, including Grammy, Emmy, MTV VMA, Billboard and AMA. In 1999, Lauper ranked No. 58 of the 100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll by VH1.[6]
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyndi_Lauper

The Barbie doll was released on 2010 as part of the Ladies of the  80's Collection. She's a pink label.

Notice the photo where she has "orange" hair? This doll's hair goes one step further than the real one, the creator decide to go red/orange/yellow with this, giving the doll's hair a perfect color. The fabrics of her clothes looks great, with a rich taffeta for her skirt, and fabric with a lace overlay making up her corset. She is also wearing a plastic flower necklace, three metal chain bracelets, and a black/gold elastic cord ankle bracelet over her fishnets.

As far the appearance, I can't say Mattel haven't try to make the doll look like Cyndi. The Teresa head mold was a perfect fit to it, as the mouth and cheeks mimic Cyndi's face very well.

So far, so good folks! Based on online reviews this doll is so far the better, looking wise, of the three on this collection.

Wishing you all a great week!!!
