Celebrity Monday - Brunete Fraccaroli

Brunete Fraccaroli is known worldwide as “the color architect” for the use of brilliant color and glass in her noted work. To her, “glass, color and transparency mean life, movement and energy.” These elements are always present in her designs. - http://worldofcolorawards.com/juror-1-brunete-fraccaroli

Today I want to talk about a Brazilian celebrity whom has had a Barbie designed by Mattel for the Barbie Collector line.  Within the "I want to be" line, there is an architect Barbie, but in his particular design she has been made exclusively for her, meaning that this doll won't be sold at stores, (Mattel does have an architect Barbie doll, but it's not this one!), look below:

Brunete Fraccaroli is one of the most know architects in Brazil, she loves colors and forms, below is some of her work:

So... With so many talented people and famous architects in the world, why her anyways?  Quite simply, she is a Barbie Collector like us!!  (Not to mention her international fame)...  She started collecting in 1992, as her last update she has collected over 400 barbie dolls, she even dressed like Barbie for events:

Here's the doll:

One to desire...

My Collection - Puppy Water Park and Bella

This set I got from Mattel on a promo some stores had on Christmas time last year - HERE - you had to spend $15 in Barbie Products , send the form and receipt for Mattel and you would get a free Barbie Doll and Tawny Horse Set, but because they didn't have it anymore I got this set plus a $5.00 coupon to get a Mattel product, so off course i got a Barbie - Keep looking...

I got the Bella Barbie from Twilight - So pretty...

Have a great Thursday :-)

Vintage Wednesday - 1959 BRUNETTE #1 BARBIE DOLL IN 1ST ISSUE ORIGINAL BOX

I copied and pasted the title of this post from an eBay auction when I saw it - it caught my eyes as I would most certainly like to put my hands on this one!

Pictures are taken from eBay as well.  In this auction's listing it said it was from a collector, they only had this Barbie up for auction, but they also had tons of old toys as well...

When I first saw the listing it had only 2h30m left with 48 people already bidding on it, the price was up to $1,998.87 and I wanted to see this one until the end of it...  So when I went back to look at it the final listing price went for US $3,801.01, with 59 bids.  Of course I didn't bid, I don't have this kind of money!  But, wouldn't it be nice...

The winner didn't do too bad either, according to this answer on http://wiki.answers.com:
A played-with #1 from 1959, no clothes, no box, no accessories, can probably fetch $5,000. A mint condition, complete, MIB doll is probably worth about $10,000.
Anyways, the auction said:
THE BRUNETTE IS THE RARER OF THE #1 BARBIES AS MORE BLONDES WERE MADE. SHE HAS THE TYPICAL MOSTLY PALE LOOK THAT #1 BARBIES HAVE WITH THE POINTED EYEBROWS, AND THE HOLES IN THE FEET WITH THE METAL LININGS. THIS BRUNETTE'S HAIR HAS NICE SHEEN AND SHAPE. THERE ARE NO MISSING PLUGS AND CUTS. THE PONYTAIL CURL IS TUCKED UNDER ON THIS DOLL. HER FACE HAS NICE ALL ORIGINAL MAKE-UP. SHE HAS NO CHEWS, NO NICKS, AND NO NECK SPLITS. THERE IS NO SIGN OF GREEN ON HER EARS. SHE HAS ALL OF HER ORIGINAL FINGER AND TOE NAIL POLISH. HER FEET DO SHOW SOME REDDISH STAIN WHERE THE SHOES GO. SHE HAS THE BARBIE LOGO ON THE BACKSIDE. ...... BARBIE COMES WITH HER ORIGINAL BLACK AND WHITE KNIT SWIMSUIT (NICE CONDITION), A PAIR OF BLACK SHOES WITH HOLES, AND THE FIRST ISSUE PINK FASHION BOOKLET (SHOWS A LITTLE WEAR). ...... THE BOX COVER HAS TWO SPLIT CORNERS, SLIGHT EDGEWEAR, PRICE TAG RESIDUE WITH SOME BROWNING . THE GRAPHICS ARE NICE. THE BOTTOM SHOWS ALL CORNERS INTACT WITH GENERAL WEAR.
I imagine you would definitely want to make sure the description and pictures are as accurate as possible as you may be able to complain or demand your money back if you are dissatisfied when you receive your item.  Especially on the vintage ones, as I had mentioned on a previous post, specifically look for things like the hair, face, painting, the greenish in the ears, etc., better if you can see it with your bare eyes other than in pictures alone...

So, here are the pictures I got from the listing...

Kroger Birthstone dolls

Kroger is a retail food store and something else...I don't know why they would have the Barbie Dolls then, but...here they are. You can only find these "girls" on Kroger and related stores - none around me - Following the link to locate a store:http://www.barbiecollector.com/collectors/kroger-family-stores
