Just sharing a website

I know YouTube have grown so much that the control over copy rights have been more and more restricted ( I'm not saying it's OK to get someone's work and place down without their authorization), but I'm miss to watch my Brazilian soap opera :-( and since I don't have Globo International, the channel to watch it, I couldn't anymore because people were not allowed to post it on YouTube.

Well, I have found some other video website, where I have been watching not only my soup opera, but a lot of other showns online, more important, for free! even Barbie movies, reason why I'm sharing the website here, since I don't buy the DVDs, but I like to watch it :-)

The website is dailymotion.com

Sometimes, videos are removed, but for now is what it is.

Hope the rest of the week is going fine for everyone :-)

Vintage Wednesday - Barbie Q Ensemble - #962 from 1959

Barbie had to be fashion no matter what! Barbie fist showed off her culinary skills in the outdoors with her very own barbecue outfit. It was a dusty rose broadcloth with a full skirt and fitted bodice. The details were not more "girly" than button accented shoulder straps and crocheted look edging on the neckline, arm roles and pockets tabs.

The package outfit contained real metal utensils. A spoon, a knife, a spatula with red plastic handle tips, a wooden rolling pin with a red painted handles and a red and white pot holder with a loop for hagging and, to complete the "cooking" look, a white apron.

Cute and material looks durable, according to fashion doll guide does last...proof of it? These pictures found on eBay shows a very good condition of a 1959 item.

Can you imagine Barbie on this outfit?

Celebrity Monday - Joan Collins as Alexis Colby

The first time I ever heard about Joan's Collins name was back in 2010 when Mattel released a Barbie doll based on her character on the soap opera called Dynasty (aired on ABC from January 12, 1981 to May 11, 1989. I didn't really care as I don't like soap opera (except the Brazilian ones...as they don't last that long, geez!)

Anyways, she has a extensive career... At the age of 22, Collins headed to Hollywood and landed sultry roles in several popular films, including The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing (1955) and Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys! (1958). While she continued to make films in the US and the UK throughout the 1960s, her career languished in the 1970s, where she appeared in a number of horror flicks. Near the end of the decade, she starred in two films based on best-selling novels by her younger sister Jackie Collins: The Stud (1978) and its sequel The Bitch (1979). Returning to her theatrical roots, she played the title role in the 1980 British revival of The Last of Mrs. Cheyney and later had a lead role in the 1990 revival of Noël Coward's Private Lives. In 1981, Collins landed Alexis Carrington Colby, the role for which she is perhaps best known, in the long-running 1980s television soap opera Dynasty. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Collins)

Not to mentioned that " she was trained as an actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. After eighteen months at the drama school, she was signed to an exclusive contract by the Rank Organisation and appeared in various British films." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Collins)

No wonder why she was the one chose by Mattel to have "her" very own Barbie doll made, even playing a bad girl in the show. She was Alexis Colby, the principal character's ex-wife, she was the "trouble" lady! There's nothing worse than family drama, so, by 1985, the show was the #1 series on American television. It was canceled by may 1989.

In 2010, Mattel gave the actress the honor of creating a doll based on her role. It was the 30th Anniversary  of the show.

"In honor of Dynasty’s 30th anniversary, Barbie® celebrates two of the show’s iconic characters. Embodying the sass and wicked streak in Alexis, Barbie® makes a bold statement in her golden gown and glittery jewelry. Brown wavy hair and dramatic face paint perfectly capture the character¹s allure and deviousness." - http://www.barbiecollector.com/shop/doll/dynasty-barbie-doll-alexis-t7906

Overall the doll is OK, don't get me wrong, I think Bill had done a great job here! I liked the "glamour" look on it, not too crazy about the gold color, I'm sure she had a lot more outfits to choose from. If i have to buy it, it won't be because of the shown, but I though it was very nice of Mattel recognized the good job done (to be the shown number one in TV, must be a good one!) by Joan Collins. what do you think?

She's a pink label designed by Bill Greening.

Hope you all have a great week!
