What a find...
I didn't know there was such a thing, but the "nice boy" - Ken, well, he's actually a man - has his own Convention too :-)

Kroger Birthstone dolls
Kroger is a retail food store and something else...I don't know why they would have the Barbie Dolls then, but...here they are. You can only find these "girls" on Kroger and related stores - none around me - Following the link to locate a store:http://www.barbiecollector.com/collectors/kroger-family-stores

Vintage Wednesday - 1965 Campus Sweetheart Barbie Doll
Barbie World is so big that I still get surprised when i found somethings here and there about "the reproductions". When this doll came out on 2008, my love for Barbie wasn't that big as now (even now i can't keep up with it...we all have other day-to-day survivor activities, so i guess it's almost impossible you be here 24/7, unless you work with it, luck you!), so i saw this doll back then and felt in love with it, to get matters worse, she was a reproduction, the "original " is always more "desirable", well, while i can't put my hands on the original one, I do have the reproduction, lets' take a look on the very first one.
Reproduction - 2008
1965 Campus Sweetheart Barbie Doll - pictures from: http://www.fashion-doll-guide.com/Vintage-Barbie-Campus-Sweetheart.html
As "fashion doll guide" mentioned this doll is very hard to find, proof of it? i couldn't even find a picture online, as i don't have the doll, so yes, it's hard to find - The doll was created in two versions - brunet and Blondie.
The dress really reminds me of the dresses used on the 60's (not that i have lived back them, thanks God for books, movies and Internet :-).
Look this 60's prom dresses: - http://www.bluevelvetvintage.com/vintage_style_files/tag/party-dresses/, not a big fan, but looks great on Barbie, what do you think?
Take care all :-)

Findings...
This last week as i had some free time i went to do some browsing on "Savers", a second hand store, every so often i found something good there. Last week i found four Barbies from the 90's in the box.
Each of them cost $10.00, not bad for a Barbie from the 90's, it's no like I will be going to a store to buy a Barbie from the 90's, but at the same time, I think this store have been increasing the prices considering that they are a second hand and get their merchandise from donation, well, that's OK thou, i was able to get two Easter Barbie - After knowing that Mattel didn't release one this year...

Celebrity Monday - Jennifer Beals
Do you remember this picture? Well if you do, I'm glad we are at the same page!! Yes, this is like a classic one from the 80's, i grown up watching this movie, i can't even tell how many time...
Now tell me you must also remember this famous scene (the one she gets wet on the chair) and song - I can't even explain, the 80's was such a good time...
Well, anyways...after a shock of memories and a couple of minutes later, lets talk about Jennifer Beals.
Jennifer Beals (born December 19, 1963) is an American actress and a former teen model. She is known for her roles as Alexandra "Alex" Owens in the 1983 film Flashdance, and as Bette Porter on the Showtime drama series The L Word. She earned an NAACP Image Award and a Golden Globe Award nomination for the former. She has appeared in more than 50 films. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Beals
Wow, after 50 movies and years she still looks great!!! Just as the doll created by Mattel to reminder us how successful her character as Alex on "Flashdance" movie was.
The doll was released on 2010
The box has the background of the movie. I found this picture on eBay, so you can see what i mean - nice done!

No Barbie Easter on 2012????
As I mentioned before I went to the stores Monday...Big disappointment on the Easter Barbies, I don't know if it was gone or it was no such thing this years, i even asked 2 employees at "Target", 'cause they always carry their exclusives and they said they didn't see it this year.
The closest "Easter Barbie" "look" I found was the one below, she looks like an Easter Barbie, but she's actually from "the fairy tale" collection as you can also see on the picture below and, the box shows no signs of Easter "says" anywhere, so...i don't know. I even got confused on one the last week's post about this. Ada, a collector as well, mentioned it to me about this "error". They are all over the Internet as the 2012 Easter Barbie, but I guess it's not. I'm not too sure :-(
BTW, this guy was there too, he's awful...

Hunger Games Katniss Doll
Wow! she got here pretty quick!! Really liked the details, but not impressed with the face, does remember the actress... Bill Greening did a good job, he had to follow "faces features". Here what we got:
At this moment you get order on on Barbie Collector. com and get around August/September.
At this moment you get order on on Barbie Collector. com and get around August/September.
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
Hunger Games Katniss doll wears a hooded jacket, top, and military-style pants inspired by the costume Katniss wore in the film. Included are bow, arrows, and quiver. Completing her look is the iconic mockingjay pin. - http://www.barbiecollector.com/shop/doll/hunger-games-katniss-doll-w3320

Happy Easter!!
Easter in Brazil means a lot of chocolate, I really mean a lot, at the stores you see something like this:
It's like a chocolate roof. There we make " a chocolate egg", empty inside, where you can put sweet treats, toys and whatever you want... and, it comes in variety of sizes and types.
Of course the commercial side gets very big, just as everyone else for the holiday...sometimes people even forget the real meaning of it.
It's nice to enjoy this time with your family, but you got remember that Jesus loves all of us so much that he gave his own life to save us and on this day, the Easter, he is here to celebrate with us his resurrection after the third day of his crucifixion. Do you want bigger prove of love than that? Just think about it...
Anyways, going back to the chocolates...A Barbie egg chocolate was also created ...
Hope all of you have a great Easter!!
