Vintage Wednesday - Vintage #3 1960 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll

I don't know much about Vintage Barbie Dolls - this is one of the reasons I started "Vintage Wednesday" - so that every so often when I get confused about their names and classifications, I can make an attempt to research my confusion and update the community, (whom also may be as lost as I am!).

Hopefully I can help not only myself, but the community as well, for an example, I found these dolls with numbers in front of their name.  I'm not too sure the meaning of it, (vintage #3, #4, #5), I have an idea about all this "mumbo jumbo", but I don't want to say something that I'm not really sure about, right?  Hopefully, these posts can help shed some light for new fans and enthusiasts alike...

So, you can guess what the next "Vintage Wednesday" post may be about then...

Coming back to the present we have today Vintage #3 1960 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll.  I'm not the author for theses pictures as I don't have the doll, they were found on an eBay auction:

This doll, #3 comes in Blondie and Brunette, she's an 850 model issued on 1960. Her original clothes were a black and white striped swimsuit (not showed on the pictures), white sunglasses, gold or pearl stud earrings and a black open toe heels. The one on this picture have a brown eyeliner, but she also was manufactured with blue eyeliner, which is rarer to find. So, get already for some digging if you want one :-)

Hope you enjoyed your Wednesday :-)

  1. My Mom still has her barbie from when she was a kid, I'll have to photograph it and ask you about it!

She's not in the best shape though, I'm pretty sure she's missing a finger or two, but her head is in great shape!

  2. Hi Heather!
Wow!! Awesome!!It's not everyday you'll put your hands on a "real" vintage Barbie. (It's very rare to find dolls from that time in a good shape as they had the painting faded, greenish ear just to mentioned some of the issues, but do you know what? You can have it restored, it's was your mom's Barbie!!!)
Yes, take a picture of her and we can figured it out together :-)I'll be happy to help you with that!
    Thanks for stopping by.
