Celebrity Monday - Clark Gable

"Everything Marilyn does is different from any other woman, strange and exciting, from the way she talks to the way she uses that magnificent torso."

I have talked about "Gone with the Wind" the movie on a Celebrity Monday post HERE before, but the whole talk was about the "girl". But, every so often the guys got to have their celebrity moment here too right?  OK, Ken?
So, how about Clark Gable.

Who was this guy, anyways?

William Clark Gable (February 1, 1901 – November 16, 1960), known as Clark Gable, was an American film actor most famous for his role as Rhett Butler in the 1939 Civil War epic film Gone with the Wind, in which he starred with Vivien Leigh. His performance earned him his third nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor; he won for It Happened One Night (1934) and was also nominated for Mutiny on the Bounty (1935). Later movies included Run Silent, Run Deep, a submarine war film, and his final film, The Misfits (1961), which paired Gable with Marilyn Monroe, also in her last screen appearance. In 1999, the American Film Institute named Gable seventh among the greatest male stars of all time.[1] He was nicknamed 'The King of Hollywood.' - http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Terms_of_Use%20%282012%29/en?utm_source=TOU_top
Well, with that look, I have to say, as a girl, "he wasn't a very handsome man", but he had something that I just can't explain, by looking at his pictures, I'm sure he had it... that look, like the one that I'm sure made him a "flirty" type of a guy back in the end of 30's and at the beginning of the 40's.  He reminds me of those old movies about the war that had epic guys who swooned all the girls... well kind of like in "Gone with the Wind" for example...

 Love these pictures...

Anyways, Mattel also created a Ken doll based on Gable's character in "Gone with the Wind" - Rhett Butler:

Ken as Rhett Butler - 1994

Clark Gable as Rhett Butler - 2001

Well, hoped you liked it, not too bad of an actor and a celebrity... and we were able to give Ken a few seconds of fame... but sorry Ken, next time its for the girls!

Have a great week!

    1. Hi Marta,
You got the right word that I couldn't think about when was writing the post: masculine, elegant - I say that because my husband and his brother when asked them for a word to define a guy who all the girls die for, they said "a player", but I thought it would be too strong, so i replaced it with "flirty"- still didn't like but I kept quiet. He's a gentlemen! Got it! Nothing better than have a great journalist as a friend :-)
      Thanks Marta!!
      Thanks for stopping by!
